Labour, media and technology: editors’ introduction

چکیده

This special issue considers how the gendered dimensions of technology intersect with labour and media, in both historical contemporary settings. The junctures where women have gained more access to technology,such as during Second World War, show that a crisis disrupts patterns can create spaces possibility. Yet must still contend deeply held notions about relationship between technological proficiency masculinity cross space time. persistent under-representation technical occupations media suggests association masculine remains strong. Contributors consider unpaid feminist activism, women’s work male-dominated areas broadcasting photography, impact change on careers media. New methodological tools for analysing amplifying hidden layers communication are also proposed.
